Increasing The Anointing Factor

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered...And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 

Luke 4:1-2, 14

Note these words, 'And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit...' This is what you call the anointing of God to produce Bible results, thus releasing the supernatural. Now you may say, 'Well that was Jesus!' but in reality it was the Holy Spirit's anointing upon Jesus, the man. You really need to grasp this fact: Jesus ministered in the earth as a man filled, led and anointed by the Holy Spirit. He constantly leaned upon the Holy Spirit in His life and ministry. Therefore as a man or woman you can also be filled, led and anointed with the same Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul explained, 'But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.' (Romans 8:11). The same Holy Spirit that dwelled in and raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you. We do not have a different Holy Spirit than Jesus but the same one.  Just as Jesus walked in the power of the Spirit so can you. 

The question that you need to ask yourself is, 'What is it that Jesus did that enabled him to return in the power of the Spirit?' Jesus even testified in the synagogue after his return from the wilderness:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised

 Luke 4:18

Jesus publicly testified that He was anointed by the Holy Spirit. He was fully aware that He had the yoke-breaking and burden-removing power of God upon Him to be a blessing to humanity and a troublemaker for the devil. As a believer – washed in the blood of Christ – you already have an anointing that abides in you indicating His presence in your life. Every true born-again believer has the indwelling of the Spirit. But what we are talking about is the anointing for service, which is power to do good. That kind of anointing destroys yokes and removes burdens:

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Isaiah 10:27

The results of the anointing

• Removes Burdens
• Destroys Yokes
• Anointed Preaching
• Heals The Sick
• Deliverance For The  Captives
• Recovery Of Sight For The Blind
• Sets At Liberty Them That Are Bruised

This is power manifested to do good to humanity. This is why it is imperative for you to increase in the anointing. What was the secret of Jesus' increase in the anointing? Let's look at the same scenario that Luke shared from Matthew's perspective:

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

Matthew 4:1-2

There is a connection between fasting and increasing, or releasing of the anointing.  While fasting has nothing to do with salvation and sanctification, it has everything to do with consecration for effective service. Fasting will not get you to heaven but it allows you to bring heaven to a lost and sick world. The purpose of the anointing  is for you to cause people who are in hard places to taste heaven on earth. Fasting is an effective conductor that permits you to release power to your generations as Jesus did in his generation. 

Fasting is a major key that unlocks increase of anointing in your life!

Many ministers don't want to hear that and they will scream, 'legalism!'. These days, whenever preachers don't like something, they hide under the cloak of: 'we are under grace and this is legalism.' That makes about as much sense as listening to a donkey braying in a barn at midnight! While everyone who is born again has the indwelling presence of God, not everyone who is born again is walking in the power of God to destroy yokes in the lives of others. A simple thing that fasting does is that it makes you an effective conductor for the power of God to be transmitted into the lives of others.
