Increasing The Anointing Factor

 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.

 Ecclesiastes 9:8

Ministry without the anointing is like a vehicle without any gas: it’s not going anywhere! Jesus did not do anything without the anointing. Although He was the Son of God, Jesus did not minister as deity upon the earth but as the son of man anointed with the Holy Spirit. The success of his ministry – whether healing, miracles, teaching or preaching were as a result of  his increase of anointing from the Holy Spirit. He did everything by the anointing of the Spirit.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 

Acts 10:38

The reason why Jesus ministered as a man anointed by the Holy Ghost was to serve as an example for us. We cannot use the flimsy excuse, ‘Well that was Jesus, he was God and that’s why he had a miracle ministry.’ No! Jesus ministered as a man anointed by the Holy Spirit. See the words of Luke in Acts, ‘How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.’  If the Holy Spirit’s anointing came on Jesus of Nazareth then the anointing can also come on Glenn of Louisville or Joe of Tasmania because God is no respecter of persons. We see in the Scriptures that Jesus grew in the anointing and we also see John the Baptist grew in the anointing. This is shown in these verses:,

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel. 

Luke 1:80

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

 Luke 2:40

Waxing strong in spirit is growing in the anointing to bring supernatural results upon earthly domain.  As we are told of John, ‘And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.’  (Luke 1:80). Too many want to be shown without ever waxing strong in spirit or be in the deserts. These are crucial keys to increasing in the anointing.

Before we talk about increasing in the anointing, let me give you a simple definition of the anointing to mark your thinking. The anointing is the power of God to produce Bible results. Many want to produce Bible results but don’t know how to go about it. Jesus produced the works of the Father because of the anointing of the Spirit. The anointing is a producer and a trouble maker for the devil. Notice that the anointing of the Spirit upon Jesus had direct impact upon the wicked activities of Satan: ‘How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.’ (Acts 10:38). Therefore the  anointing is the undoing of the works of the devil. It is a direct assault on the ventures of Satan. This is why we must increase in the anointing; without it the enemy will exploit the lives of people around us. So how do we increase in the anointing?

The anointing of God is the Spirit of God rubbing upon and within you, enlarging your spirit’s capacity to do the works of God in the natural. This is why waxing strong in the spirit is a must. A weak spirit cannot produce results. A weak spirit is victimized but a strong spirit will victimize the works of the enemy and enemy himself. You cannot wax strong in spirit without the Word and prayer. That is a no-brainer! However we see this term ‘in the deserts’ that we need to pay attention to. It means to be alone with God. The secret to increase in the anointing  is to spend much time in God's presence. Any man that will touch the world must first be touched by God in His presence. The desert represents your alone-time with God. This has to do with consecration, petition and association in order to receive an impartation for delivery of the acts of God. This is vitally important in the quest to grow and increase in the anointing.
