Speaking words of faith

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:8-10

Nowadays people are reluctant to talk about speaking words of faith because they don’t want to be associated with the ‘name it and claim it’  or ‘blab it and grab it’ gang. However the truth is that speaking words of faith is crucial for victory and to possess what God has made available through the New Covenant.

The Scripture is clear according to the author of Hebrews: ‘Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;’ (Hebrews 3:1). Jesus is the apostle and high priest of our confession. As a priest would take the sacrifice and the incense before God so does Jesus our High Priest take your words before the Heavenly Father. Paul also emphatically told the Romans, ‘confession is made unto salvation'. Now the words made unto in Greek are literally rendered as constituted. Therefore what Paul said was: ‘Your confession is constituted as salvation’ . You have to remember that salvation is more than just being born again because it also means to be sound in spirit, soul and body. Therefore your salvation, healing, deliverance and prosperity are constituted and established by the words that proceed out of your mouth.

As a priest would take the sacrifice before God so does Jesus take your words before the Heavenly Father

In Hebrew the word saved or salvation meant to be enlarged and to go to a broad place. In other words your words will make room for you. Speaking the Word of God about and to your situation is what is constituted as a word of faith confession. You see the word confession is homologeo  which is a combination of two words:

  • Homo meaning same
  • Logeo meaning word.

The two words combined literally means to speak the same words as God. Once you understand that God has already spoken about your situation and Satan is also speaking about your situation you will choose your words wisely. Who will you side with? When you speak God’s words then you agree with God and you win but if you speak Satan’s words then you agree with him and lose. So decide to speak words of faith today! Don’t worry about the ‘name it and claim it’ tag. You just speak words of faith and walk in victory!
