Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence. In love He predestined us for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved One. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And He has made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to bring all things in heaven and on earth together in Christ. In Him we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, would be for the praise of His glory. And in Him, having heard and believed the word of truth—the gospel of your salvation—you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the pledge of our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 1:3-14 Berean Study Bible
In the first chapter of Ephesians, the apostle Paul describes the blessings that God gives to every believer in Christ Jesus. The Bible boldly declares that every man and woman ought to praise God unashamedly and without any restraint. Why? Here are ten biblical reasons from the Apostle Paul why you have a calling to praise the Lord.
1: Because He Has Blessed You with Every Spiritual Blessings
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ
2: Because He Has Chosen You
Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him
3: Because He Has Predestined and Adopted You. You become a son or daughter of the Living God because of what Jesus did on the Cross.
In love, He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will
4: Because He Has Redeemed You
To the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood
5: Because He Has Forgiven You
To the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses
6: Because He Has Lavished His Grace on You
To the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us
7: Because He Has Made Known the Mystery of His Will
In all wisdom and insight, He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him... that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth
8: Because He Has Provided an Eternal Inheritance
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory
9: Because He Has Sealed You with the Holy Spirit in Christ
In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise
10: Because He Has Guaranteed Your Inheritance
[The Holy Spirit] is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory
